Ribbon Cuttings and

Grand Opening Events

 

 

H & R Block held a ribbon cutting on January 12 to celebrate 45 years of service to the local community. Previously owned by Jerry and Cecil Faulkner, the business is currently owned by Farooq Ali.   Also honored at the event was the Vance County Teacher of the Year, Peggy Price.  H & R Block offers tax and financial services and can be reached locally at 252-492-1981.  They are located at 1541 Dabney Drive.

 

Discount Furniture Center held a ribbon cutting on Jauary 10 to celebrate the opening of the new business located at 135 US 158 By-pass (former Schewels' location) in Hendeson. Locally owned and operated, Discount Furniture Center delivers discount prices on kitchen appliances, electronics and furniture for every room, including items for the bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room, furniture accessories and jewelry. Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society of Henderson held a ribbon cutting on December 1 to celebrate the establishment of the organization and its new Chamber membership.  The 501 (c)3 non-profit organization rescues and places local animals with loving homes - some as far away as Canada.  They have assisted and gotten veterinary care for thousands of animals and continue to strive to make life in our local community better for them. 

 

The Colonial Center held a ribbon cutting on November 4 to celebrate their new Chamber membership.  Located in downtown South Hill, Virginia, The Colonial Center is one of the few remaining vaudeville theatres of its era in Virginia and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The theatre has been restored and is a thriving community theatre whose mission is to foster and encourage the development of theatre and the performing arts in Southside Virginia and the surrounding regions.  For information on the center and upcoming performances, go to their website at www.colonialcenterva.org or call 434-262-4170.
 

Reaching the Hearts of Women held a ribbon cutting on October 28 to celebrate the opening of the home-based business. Pictured from left to right are Mayor Pete O'Geary, Pastor Mark Hargrove, Chamber Ambassador Bernice Bullock, Visionary and Executive Board Member Erica Cozart, Executive Board Member Brenda Hunt-Moore, Executive Board Member Gwendolyn P. Moore, Chamber Ambassador Julia Langston and County Commissioner Tommy Hester.  Not pictured are Executive Board Members Antoinette Green-Anderson and Stefanie DaMore.  The organization is a women’s resource center providing motivational speakers and other resources to empower women to be all that they can be. Salon 31 held a ribbon cutting on October 13 to celebrate the opening of the business and their new Chamber membership.  The salon is owned by stylist Jackie Newton and is also home to stylists Jessica Ayscue and Shannon Newman.  Located in Crossroads Shopping Center at 946 V West Andrews Avenue, the salon is a full service hair salon that provides a relaxed, uptown, serene and Christian atmosphere in which to get the latest and most up-to-date hairstyles.  The business can be reached at 252-438-3131.

 

Sheetz held a ribbon cutting to celebrate their grand opening on September 29.  Gift cards were given away to the first 50 people in the door that morning.  Sheetz executives were present for the event which also awarded a check to Special Olympics North Carolina.  The company donates $2,500 to SONC every time a new Sheetz is opened in the state. Michael Garguilo, Northern Piedmont Area Director for SONC, Scott Clark, Global Messenger, SONC athlete, Richard Guthlein and Julie Allred, Vance County Local Coordinator for SONC collected this donation on behalf of SONC. As a result of these donations, Vance County and other local program athletes are able to have lower fees to attend State level events.

Starting Over/Diani’s Designs held a ribbon cutting on August 26 to celebrate the opening of the business and their new Chamber membership. AIM High Athletics and Personal Training held a ribbon cutting on August 25 to celebrate their Grand Opening. The business is a fitness center offering a variety of fitness programs for adults and children. The business is owned by Certified Personal Trainer Jessica Rice and is managed by Whitney McGee. Fast Break/Chester’s held a ribbon cutting on August 18 to celebrate the opening of their new restaurant in the convenience mart located at 578 Satterwhite Point Road in Henderson. Springleaf Financial Services held a ribbon cutting on August 11 to celebrate their name change. Formerly American General Financial, the company continues to offer the same great service with lending made personal. Spiritual Connections Café held a ribbon cutting on July 26 to celebrate the opening of their new business and new Chamber membership. Henderson Pediatric Dentistry held a ribbon cutting on July 22 to celebrate the opening of the practice. Owned and operated by Dr. Rhonda Kearney, the practice is located at 451 Ruin Creek Road Suite 205 in Henderson. Sea Tow held a ribbon cutting on June 2 to celebrate new ownership and their new Chamber membership.  The event was held at Satterwhite Point Marina on Kerr Lake.  The company is a marine assistance provider for recreational boaters nationwide catering to every boater including power boaters, sailors, fishermen, water sports enthusiasts and professional mariners. Abria's Chase Foundation held a ribbon cutting on to celebrate their new Chamber membership.  The organization is a non-profit organization formed after the tragic death of the co-founders' children Abria Jhun'e and Joshua Chase.
