held a ribbon cutting on January 12 to celebrate 45 years of service to the
local community. Previously owned by Jerry and Cecil Faulkner, the business is

Ruin Creek Animal
Protection Society of Henderson
held a ribbon cutting on December 1 to celebrate the establishment of the
organization and its new Chamber membership. The 501 (c)3 non-profit
organization rescues and places local animals with loving homes - some as far
away as Canada. They have assisted and gotten veterinary care for
thousands of animals and continue to strive to make life in our local community
better for them.

The Colonial Center
held a ribbon cutting on November 4 to celebrate their new Chamber membership.
Located in downtown South Hill, Virginia, The Colonial Center is one of the few
remaining vaudeville theatres of its era in Virginia and is listed in the
National Register of Historic Places. The theatre has been restored and is a
thriving community theatre whose mission is to foster and encourage the
development of theatre and the performing arts in Southside Virginia and the

Reaching the Hearts of Women
held a ribbon cutting on October 28 to celebrate the opening of the home-based

held a ribbon cutting on October 13 to celebrate the opening of the business and
their new Chamber membership. The salon is owned by stylist Jackie Newton
and is also home to stylists Jessica Ayscue and Shannon Newman. Located in
Crossroads Shopping Center at 946 V West Andrews Avenue, the salon is a full
service hair salon that provides a relaxed, uptown, serene and Christian

Sheetz
held a ribbon cutting to celebrate their grand opening on September 29.
Gift cards were given away to the first 50 people in the door that morning.
Sheetz executives were present for the event which also awarded a check to
Special Olympics North Carolina. The company donates $2,500 to SONC every
time a new Sheetz is opened in the state. Michael Garguilo, Northern Piedmont
Area Director for SONC, Scott Clark, Global Messenger, SONC athlete, Richard
Guthlein and Julie Allred, Vance County Local Coordinator for SONC collected
this donation on behalf of SONC. As a result of these donations, Vance County
and other local program athletes are able to have lower fees to attend State
level events.
