Ribbon Cuttings and

Kittrell Job Corps Center's Underground Cafe', located at 1096 U.S. 1 Hwy South, held a ribbon cutting on February 5 to celebrate the opening of their restaurant, the "Underground Cafe'" on Fridays to the general public. The restaurant is run by their Culinary Arts students and staff of Kittrell Job Corps Center. Light refreshments were provided.  The organization can be reached at 252-438-6161.
 

 

Henderson Family YMCA held a ribbon cutting on February 3 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the local YMCA.  Also celebrated was the 20th anniversary of their current facility located at 380 Ruin Creek Road.  A family celebration of food and fun, the celebration was a day-long event.  The YMCA can be reached at 252-438-2144.

Yarny & Sassy held a ribbon cutting on December 10 to celebrate the opening of their new business. The company is located at 131 S. Garnett Street in Downtown Henderson (beside Interiors) and is owned and operated by Mayra Cabello. The store sells specialty yarns and offers knitting instruction. Henderson Furniture Outlet held a ribbon cutting on December 7 to celebrate the opening of their new business at 410 South Garnett Street. Coast Guard Auxiliary Henderson/Kerr Lake on November 4 to celebrate their Chamber Membership.  The organization specializes in boat safety education and can be reached at 919-305-9388.

D.B.’s Windshield Chip Repair & Headlamp Restoration held a ribbon cutting celebrating their new Chamber membership on October 20 in the Chamber lobby. The home-based business offers a full range of windshield repair/replacement and headlamp restoration. Owner and operator D.B. Jarrell can be reached at 252-430-6759.

Toyota Scion of Henderson held a ribbon cutting on October 16 to celebrate the opening of their new facility at 205 Toyota Lane. Owner Dave Genetti along with Toyota provided lunch for all guests. A large crowd turned out for the special event including representatives from the corporate offices of Toyota. Tours of the new facility were given and all of the latest and greatest Toyotas were available for viewing on the lot. VIDEO CONCEPTIONS held a ribbon cutting on September 22 to celebrate the opening of their new business and new Chamber membership.  It is a home-based business that specializes in wedding videography, birthday parties, reunions and special events. The United Way of Vance County Volunteer Center held a ribbon cutting on September 16 to celebrate their move to new offices located at 212 Dabney Drive.  The Volunteer Center of United Way of Vance County mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems.  To contact United Way of Vance County, call 252-492-8392 or go to www.unitedwayvance.com.  Executive Director for the local united way is Nancy Grey.

 

 

Henderson Wellness Center, PA held a ribbon cutting on September 10 to celebrate the expansion of their business to include an urgent care center with new staff and other services.  Henderson Wellness Center offers chiropractic services, accupuncture, treatment of back and neck pain, sports injuries and the new urgent care services.  Urgent care services offer persons with acute illness or injury the opportunity to be seen on the same day without an appointment.  The business is owned and operated by Dr. Brandon Taylor and is located at 414 Dabney Drive.  To contact the office, call 252-430-8000 or check them out on the web at www.taylor-chiropractic.com

 

Kerr Lake Glassworks held a ribbon cutting on September 3 to celebrate their new Chamber membership.  The business does auto glass of all kinds (mobile or in shop installation), insulated glass, mirrors, commercial storefronts, doors, closers and hardware, patio doors, replacement windows, furniture glass and 24-hour emergency board-up services. The Recovery Response Center - Recovery Innovations of North Carolina, Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 4. Representatives from the Vance County board of Commissioners, Five County Mental Health Authority and local businesses were present.  The Recovery Response center provides support to persons who are experiencing a crisis for as short as a couple of hours to as long as five days. Crises can be the inability to feel right, being extremely stressed out or having substance abuse problems. This a free service for adults 18 years and older offered to the residents of Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Vance and Warren counties. Smoking is permitted and those who stay overnight will have their own room. (If clients are taking prescription medications, they must bring prescription bottles with them.)  It is located at 300 Parkview Drive West in Henderson. (behind the Social Security office). Platinum Cuts IV hosted a ribbon cutting on July 30 to celebrate its grand opening and new Chamber membership. The business serves as a full service barbershop and is owned by Crystal Jno Baptiste and operated by Arnold Booth, Jr. Platinum Cuts is located in the Marketplace Shopping Center at 901-A South Beckford Drive (next to Postal Plus) in Henderson. Johnson, Jones & Associates held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their new home-based business. John Johnson and Craig Jones have a combined 70 years of experience as benefits specialists in the group employee market. VanceDances held a ribbon cutting on Friday, June 12 for their new home-based business. The business specializes in ballroom dance instruction and is run by Ned Dibner. St. Augustine's College held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their "Gateway Lifelong Learning Program" at their Henderson location on Wednesday, May 20.  Housed in the Gateway Center at 314 S. Liberty Tax Service, located at 901 South Beckford Drive in the Marketplace Shopping Center held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, January 22.  The business provides tax and financial services and is ownerd by Tavarus and Amanda Young.  If you see "Lady Liberty" on Dabney Drive, she is directing you to Liberty Tax Service.

 

 

The Association of Drs. Alex Drake, Cleary & Spears, DDS held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, December 11 at their office located at 912 College Street in Oxford. Coldwell Banker Advantage held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, December 9 at their new location at 1004 Dabney Drive in Henderson. They now have 9 offices in the area. Life Line Outreach, Inc. held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 21 at their location on 2014 Raleigh Road to celebrate the addition of a playground and new food pantry to their current operation.
